Europe

Shawn, Katie, Aspen & Slater flew to Rome, Italy on July 4th to meet Katie’s family and celebrate Katie’s parent’s 40th wedding anniversary. They all took a cruise from Rome with stops in Taormina, Sicily; Athens, Greece; Ephesus, Turkey; and Chania, Crete.  While in Rome, they saw many of the ancient sites including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Pantheon, and some of the ornate Catholic churches, including St. Peter’s Basilica. They also toured the Vatican Museum, and enjoyed lots of fountains and gelato from Giolitti’s in the hot weather.  In Sicily, they took a trip up the volcano Mt. Etna and visited the beautiful town of Taormina.  In Greece, they visited the Parthenon and the Acropolis, the Temple of Zeus, and Syntagma Square for the changing of the guard.  Their favorite part of the trip was in Turkey, where they visited the ancient ruins of Ephesus and saw the theater that is referenced in Acts 19.  Their final stop was in Crete, where they visited the old town of Chania.  They had a great trip with the family and enjoyed seeing all of the historical sites.  Click here or on the picture for more photos from their trip.
