Shawn & Katie had a busy last week of summer. First, on the weekend of Aug. 11th, they went down to Mobile for their nephew’s 5th birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese. They also dropped off Belle at Shawn’s Uncle Tommy, who is a Veterinarian, to be spayed.
The following week, they travelled to Myrtle Beach, SC for Katie to attend a contiuing medical education (CME) conference organized by the North Carolina Academy of Physician Asisstants. The conference lasted the whole week, started at 7am, and ended by 3pm, so there was plenty of time to enjoy the beach afterwards. They stayed at the Hilton at Kingston Plantation, which between Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach. While Katie was in conference, Shawn worked on writing papers for his research, and afterwards would go surfing at the nearby Apache Peir. After surfing Katie and Shawn would ride bikes or retire to pool-side relaxing. At night, they visited some great restaurants, played mini-golf at Captain Hooks, and saw baby tigers at Barefoot Landing.
The following weekend, Kaite and Shawn returned to Atlanta to meet Katie’s parents, just back from their cruise of northern Europe, and Shawn’s parents. Saturday, they all went to the Bodies exhibit. Saturday afternoon Katie’s parents returned to their home in Decatur, and Shawn’s Uncle David and Aunt Wanda came to stay with Shawn & Katie. Sunday, the crew went to church at First Baptist Atlanta, and visited the Georgia Aquarium. Monday, Shawn’s parents went home to Mobile, and his Aunt & Uncle went down to Savannah and Tybee Island, GA for a vacation.
This all took a lot of energy, but it was a great break. Shawn & Katie had a great time. You can see pictures from their adventures in the photo album.
