Bobby Bowden, head coach of the Florida State Seminoles, visited First Baptist Atlanta on Sunday night, May 1st, to speak about important issues he has seen in the christian community nationwide. Among these issues were Christian men not fulfilling their Biblical role as fathers and spiritual leaders in the household, Christians not responding to the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19-20) in their day-to-day activities, and the precedented concequences of our nation turning from God.
Before Bobby Bowden spoke, the host of the event went through the crowd picking out people to ask trivia questions. Near the end of this trivia game, he picked Katie and asked her when First Baptist Atlanta was established. She chose the correct answer (1849), and won an autographed copy of Bobby Bowden’s Tales from the Seminole Sideline.
After Mr. Bowden’s talk, there was a reception where Shawn and Katie were able to meet Mr. Bowden and get him to personalize the autographed book. They also talked to him about their time at Auburn when Terry Bowden, his son, was there. Bobby Bowden spoke highly of Auburn, and said Terry enjoyed his time there. It was a fun and rewarding event, and a great opportunity to meet such an influential man of God.
